P...d off in Palermo

Liz’s Palermo Lament (composed 5am Tuesday local time). Sicily - with a capital S - dirty, disorganised – quite a mess, A disappointing start, we say, for holidays to start this way. Two flights delayed, our sprit sags, then arrive at last without our bags, “They musta bea still in Roma”. Let’s turn around - I wanta go homa. No sox, no jocks, no hats, no sprays, just clothes we’ve worn the past two days (at least our flats got comfy beds – and we have our supply of emergency meds!). Hot and tired, we just say “f… it, let’s go find the local market”, We buy tomatoes, vino, pasta and figs and trudge wearily back to our cosy digs. John cooks up a storm, I have a bath, then we both sit back and have a laugh, Tipsy, jet-lagged, off our faces, all we need are our bloody suitcases! Our spirits restored, we’ll carry on, So watch this space – there’s more to come!!!
